history

It was formed in 1948 under the name of Amt Bargteheide from the communities of Bargfeld-Stegen, Bargteheide, Delingsdorf, Elmenhorst, Fischbek, Hammoor, Jersbek, Klein Hansdorf, Nienwohld, Timmerhorn and Tremsbüttel of the former districts of Bargteheide and Jersbek. The seat of the office is the city of Bargteheide .

After Bargteheide left in 1957, it got its current name. As part of the local reorganization in the 1970s, Jersbek, Klein Hansdorf and Timmerhorn merged to form the large community of Jersbek and Elmenhorst and Fischbek to form the large community of Elmenhorst. In 1974 the neighboring Mollhagen office was dissolved and from this office Todendorf came to the Bargteheide office.

The bear's head refers to the noble Jersbek estate and the rose is taken from the seal of the lordly Tremsbüttel office.
