The Allgäu motorway triangle (abbreviation: AD Allgäu ; short form: Allgäu triangle ) is a motorway triangle in Bavaria near Kempten . This is where the federal autobahn 980 ( southern bypass Kempten ) begins by branching off from the federal autobahn 7 ( Flensburg - Hanover - Kassel - Füssen ) ( Europastraße 532 ).
geography
The triangle lies in the municipality of Sulzberg in Oberallgäu . The surrounding towns and communities are Durach , Betzigau and Kempten im Allgäu. It is located about 30 km northwest of Füssen, about 50 km east of Lindau (Lake Constance) and about 35 km south of Memmingen .
The Allgäu motorway triangle is number 136 on the A 7 and number 1 on the A 980.
history
Originally the A 98 was to be extended from Weil am Rhein ( Hochrheinautobahn ) via Friedrichshafen ( Bodenseautobahn ) and Garmisch-Partenkirchen ( Voralpenautobahn ) to the A 8 near Irschenberg . However, these plans were partially abandoned. The only section of the pre-alpine motorway in this area was the federal motorway 980.
Due to this planning, the motorway triangle is still shown as a motorway junction on the advance notice. There are parallel lanes in both directions to complete the clover leaf, but these are only used for vehicle traffic in the south-north direction. In the north-south direction, the parallel lane is mainly used as a storage facility for the motorway maintenance depot.
Development condition and design
In this area, the A 7, just like the A 980, has four lanes. All transitions are single-lane.
The crossing structure was erected in the shape of a half-leaf clover .
