People's Crown
The people's crown was introduced in Germany after the abolition of the monarchy as a replacement for the monarchical crowns above the coat of arms .
The rank crowns above the coat of arms shields used until then were replaced by a flat crown of leaves extending over the entire upper edge of the shield. The coats of arms of Baden-Württemberg , Bavaria , Berlin , Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate show this crown. The crown is also described as "a crown adorned with vine leaves" or called "crown of leaves". In 1923 it was first used in the Bavarian state coat of arms as the embodiment of popular sovereignty.
