Groß Many is a district of the city of Penzlin in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). In the municipality of Groß Großen, which was independent until June 7, 2009, 357 inhabitants (December 31, 2007) lived on 13.29 km². Ingeborg Heller was the last honorary mayor of Groß Vielens .

geography

Big Many is in the Mecklenburg Lake District , between Tollensesee and Müritz on the edge of the Müritz National Park . The area around Groß Many is characterized by fields, forests and lakes ( Klein Vielener See ). The city center of Penzlin is only four kilometers away from Groß Many. The district of Zahren belonged to the community of Groß Many.

history

The place is of Slavic origin, many could be derived from the Old Slavic locator Velim, so " place of Velim ".

The former manor village appears for the first time in a document in 1170 as Groten Vylim . The von Peccatel , von Holstein and Oertzen families belonged to the long line of owners of the estate; the Wenck family since 1883 . She died in 1945 through suicide. A people-owned property was created . The mansion from 1905 has been abandoned (2010), the manor buildings are partially managed (horse breeding). A large gatehouse was built in 1740 and renewed in 1882.

Attractions

  • Listed half-timbered church , built in 1774. The bell dates from the 14th or 15th century.
  • Reconstructed manor house in the district of Zahren (today a therapeutic facility of the Blue Cross )

Economy and Infrastructure

Agriculture still shapes the place today, the areas are cultivated by family businesses. A branch of the Redefin State Stud is located in Groß Many .

Big Many is on the main road from Penzlin to Ankershagen . The federal highway 192 and the federal highway 193 lead north and east past the place. The next larger train stations are in Neubrandenburg and Neustrelitz .
