Grabow-Below was a municipality in the southwest of the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania from 1959 to 2019 . The community was administered by the Office Röbel-Müritz with its seat in the city of Röbel / Müritz . Your area now forms part of the municipality of Eldetal .

Grabow and Below are located in the southwest of the municipality, directly on the state border with Brandenburg, which is marked here by the Dosse river . history

Probably originally Slavic populated locality Grabow - one of common place name (from the old Slavic grabu = "hornbeam") - was named in a Belehnungsurkunde 1344th While the landowners changed frequently in Grabow, the part of Below was knightly property. Below was from 1840 the seat of the municipal forestry department of the city of Wittstock.

In 1957 the suburbs Grabow and Below, about three kilometers apart, were merged to form the municipality of Grabow-Below. On May 26, 2019 Grabow-Below merged with Massow , Wredenhagen and Zepkow to form the new municipality of Eldetal . The last mayor was Ilgen Wegener.

The Grabow Church was built in the second half of the 19th century by Gotthilf Ludwig Möckel in neo-Gothic style. The choir is formed by half an octagon and has three arched windows. The church tower, which was destroyed by a lightning strike, was renewed in 1899, the roof in 1999. The cemetery wall was rebuilt in 1992 as a dry stone wall based on the historical model.

In 1946 an honorary grave was created in the village cemetery for 132 perished concentration camp prisoners. In Below and Grabow, one of a total of 120 information boards was set up on Dorfstrasse.
