Isaac Van Wart
Isaac Van Wart (* 1760 in Greenburgh , Province of New York ; † 23 May 1828 ; also written Van Wert ) was a soldier in the American Revolutionary War .
Life
Isaac Van Wart was a farmer in Westchester County , New York. He served as a soldier in the American War of Independence. A copper engraving by Daniel Berger based on an original by Daniel Chodowiecki from 1784 tells the story of the spy John André , who is taken into custody near Tarrytown by three men, John Paulding , Isaac Van Wart and David Williams .
