Groß Dratow is a district of the municipality Schloen-Dratow in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).
geography
Groß Dratow in the Mecklenburg Lake District is northeast of the Müritz between the cities of Waren (Müritz) and Penzlin . The hilly (up to 85 m above sea level), wooded area in the south has a share in the Müritz National Park . The Ostpeene rises to the west of Groß Dratow .
The districts of Groß Dratow, Klein Dratow, Klockow and Schwastorf belonged to the community of Groß Dratow, which existed until 2011.
history
In 1284, the villages of Groß and Klein Dratow appear for the first time in a document, five years later the former district of Schwastorf. The Groß Dratower Church dates from the 13th century.
Agriculture traditionally plays the largest role in Groß Dratow.
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Klein Dratow was incorporated. On January 1, 2012, Groß Dratow and the neighboring municipality of Schloen merged to form the new municipality of Dratow-Schloen, which was renamed Schloen-Dratow two years later.
