history

Kieve village church

The Kieve rampart north of the village was built between the 7th and 9th centuries AD. The originally Slavic settlement appeared for the first time in a document in 1298 . The church in Kieve also dates from the 13th century.

Margrave Waldemar von Brandenburg donated the village to the Cistercian monastery Neuenkamp on the Lower Rhine as compensation for damage to the nearby monastery on Mönchsee. The Altkamper monastery ran a farm here, which is attested in a deed of donation from 1232. The date of origin is therefore December 30, 1232.

politics

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE KIEVE".

Kieve has been able to keep its character as a farming village. The annual harvest festival in Kieve has been a tradition since 1946.
