Kieve village church
The village church is a listed church building in Kieve , a municipality in the Mecklenburg Lake District ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). The church belongs to the Neustrelitz Propstei of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany ( Northern Church ).
History and architecture
The building was rebuilt after it was destroyed in the Thirty Years War and later changed several times. The rectangular, flat-roofed hall church was prepared from Feldstein , using brick , brick. The front is plastered, on the north side the field stones and the pointed arched windows framed with brick are visible. The core of the church probably dates from the end of the 13th century. The western brick gable and the neo-Gothic windows were added in 1872. There is a small half-timbered extension to the side .
The boarded-up west tower made of wood is covered with bricks. Like the half-timbered gable, it dates from the end of the 18th century.
The simple interior is spanned by a wooden ceiling.
Furnishing
- The wooden altarpiece is marked 1682. The column structure shows paintings depicting the Lord's Supper and the resurrection of Christ in the excerpt. Figures of the donors stand on both sides of the base. The top is crowned with a crucifixion group.
- The carved relief is a work from around 1500. It is a group of figures from a crucifixion.
- The tapestry depicting the prodigal son is well worth seeing.
- The three bells were cast in 1837 by Johann Christian Haack from Rostock.
