history

After its foundation (before 1250), Kittendorf belonged to the manorial property of the von Voss family and from 1300 also to the Breydes family. These came from Holstein and came to the area in the course of the German colonization in the east . The Maltzahn had been enfeoffed with the property since the beginning of the 17th century, but had to give up the property during the Thirty Years' War . In 1690 the estate came to the von Blücher family and in 1751 to the von Oertzen , who in the 19th century set up a Fideikommiss from Kittendorf, Mittelhof and Oevelgünde . The von Oertzen family was expropriated from 1945 as part of the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone .

On January 1, 1951, the previously independent community of Clausdorf was incorporated.

The old manor house Kittendorf and the surrounding farm buildings of the manor had suffered in GDR times in the structural fabric. In 1999, the Treuhand Liegenschaftsgesellschaft (TLG) , a real estate company in the Federal Republic of Germany, had the remains of the historic building complex torn down as part of a large-scale so-called “eyesore removal program” . As a result of this destruction of a total of twelve historical buildings, Kittendorf lost its original appearance as a grown manor village. This deliberate destruction of numerous culturally valuable buildings was sharply criticized in a public appeal (Kittendorfer Appell) .
