The village church of Kittendorf is clearly divided into the components choir, nave and tower and shows, especially in the choir view, a well-proportioned overall effect with the rustic execution of the field stone masonry. The gables of the choir and the nave are made of brick and show richly structured panels; the choir gable is emphasized by a cross on a deepened ground. The choir, dated dendrochronologically to 1294, is illuminated by a three-part, ogival window in the east. The other windows are mostly in one piece with brick walls . The mighty west tower has a brick upper floor and a steep, slightly twisted helmet from the 15th century. While the west portal has a neo-Gothic border, there is a simple return portal on the ship in the north and south. The choir is also accessed through a portal on the south side with a bulge between set columns.

Inside the choir is closed off by a ribbed vault. The nave has four ribbed vaults from the 15th century over a round pillar with services . The choir opens to the nave with a pointed triumphal arch on which remains of medieval wall paintings are still preserved. As with other village churches made of field stone masonry at about the same time, the stylistic affiliation to the Gothic is mainly due to the construction time and the use of the pointed arch.

Furnishing

The altarpiece from 1603 has a three-storey architectural structure with reliefs depicting the life of Christ. The altar was composed of at least two altars around 1751 and heavily painted over. A restoration was carried out in 2006. The pulpit dates from 1596 and is decorated with painted representations of the evangelists and Salvator mundi in the fields of the pulpit. Another remarkable combination of works of different styles is an epitaph in the tower from the 17th century with crucifixion in relief and using an older crucifix from the 15th century. Several coats of arms with the coat of arms of the von Maltzahn family have been preserved. An elaborate patronage gallery from the beginning of the 17th century shows painted representations of the virtues and coats of arms between pillars with fittings .

Mention should also be made of a chandelier from the 18th century and a bell with majusc inscription from 1288, which is considered the oldest dated bell in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It is particularly melodious and tuned to the tone f sharp 1 +3. Another bell from the 15th century has the tone g 2 +3.

The liturgical equipment consists of two silver-gilt chalices and two boxes from the 18th century. Another silver box dates from 1692. Several tombs of the von Oertzen family have been preserved in the surrounding cemetery .
