Neu Gaarz is a district of the municipality Jabel in the Mecklenburg Lake District in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The village of Alt Gaarz also belongs to Neu Gaarz.
geography
Neu Gaarz is located in the middle of the Mecklenburg Lake District , about 14 kilometers northwest of Waren (Müritz). The local area is embedded between the Bergsee and the Tiefen See , which belong to a chain of lakes that extends between the larger lakes Malchiner See and Fleesensee / Kölpinsee . Neu Gaarz lies at the intersection of the two nature parks Mecklenburgische Schweiz and Kummerower See and Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide . The forest and hilly area reaches a height of 91 m above sea level in the northwest. NN.
In addition to the Tiefen See and the Bergsee, the Hofsee , the Krumme See (also Krogsee) and the Backofensee are in the local area. To the south lies the nature reserve Seen- und Bruchlandschaft, south of Alt Gaarz .
history
On July 1, 1950, the former communities of Alt Gaarz and Hagenow were incorporated.
Until December 31, 2014 Neu Gaarz was an independent municipality and was then incorporated into Jabel. When it was incorporated, Neu Gaarz was the only municipality in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania that had less than 100 inhabitants. The last mayor was Werner Ockert.
Economy and Infrastructure
Neu Gaarz is characterized by agriculture and tourism.
The Gutsgelände the domain New Gaarz includes a renovated after German reunification manor house that is used as a hotel, as well as a newly built hostel, apartments and an entertainment venue.
Attractions
The manor house of the former Neu Gaarz domain is a baroque , later rebuilt, two-storey, ten-axis plastered building with a three-storey central projection, built around 1760 . After 1945 it was used as a residential building and community office. After 1991 it was a hotel and artists' meeting place, from 2008 a hunting school, from 2015 again a hotel and holiday complex with an adjacent lake.
Transport links
Neu Gaarz is located on the country road that connects the federal highway 108 (district Grabowhöfe ) via Hohen Wangelin to the federal highway 19 (connection Linstow ). The nearest train station is in Jabel (connections to Waren (Müritz) , Malchow and Parchim ).
Personalities
At the end of the 19th century, Agnes Karll , who later reformer German nursing , worked as a private teacher in Neu Gaarz .
