The Hofsee is north of the Great Lakes of Mecklenburg Lake District lying lake in the district of Mecklenburg Lake District , Mecklenburg-Vorpommern . It is located west of Neu Gaarz in the municipality of Jabel . It has an approximate length of 1500 meters and an approximate width of 600 meters. It is embedded in the terminal moraine landscape of Mecklenburg Switzerland . The lake belongs to the Loppiner-Klocksiner chain of lakes, which stretches between the larger lakes Malchiner See and Fleesensee / Kölpinsee in an ice age meltwater channel, so only narrow land bridges separate the lake from the Bergsee and Tiefen See. Alt Gaarz is located on the land bridge to the mountain lake, over which the road to Neu Gaarz also leads. The lake lies at the intersection of the two nature parks Mecklenburgische Schweiz and Kummerower See and Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide . The edge of the river is almost entirely wooded.
