The lake is north of the Great Lakes of Mecklenburg Lake District lying lake in the district of Mecklenburg Lake District , Mecklenburg-Vorpommern . It is located southwest of Alt Gaarz , a district of the municipality of Jabel . The lake has an approximate length of 1,730 meters and an approximate width of 400 meters. It is embedded in the terminal moraine landscape of Mecklenburg Switzerland and belongs to the Loppiner-Klocksiner chain of lakes, which extends between the larger lakes Malchiner See and Fleesensee / Kölpinsee in an ice age meltwater channel. At the village of Alt Gaarz, the lake is only separated from the Hofsee by a narrow land bridge . The lake is located in the nature reserve Seen- und Bruchlandschaft south of Alt Gaarz on the edge of the Nossentiner / Schwinzer Heide nature reserve . The shore is wooded throughout.
