The community, which is surrounded by fields, is located in the sparsely populated area, ten kilometers south-east of Neustadt-Glewe and north-east of Grabow. The Bundesautobahn 24 can be reached via the Neustadt-Glewe junction in around ten kilometers.
history
Muchow was first mentioned in a document in 1377. However, the area was already settled before the beginning of the era. As is common in the region, iron extraction from lawn iron stone played a role at times . From 1407 to the 17th century there were 33 landlords and 32 cottages in the village . In the Thirty Years' War 20 farms were devastated. A total of three major fires in 1531, 1903 and 1938 are known. Until 1989, Muchow was mainly characterized by agriculture.
The neo-Gothic brick church with a cross-shaped floor plan was built by Gotthilf Ludwig Möckel from 1890 to 1892 . The altarpiece is by the Düsseldorf painter Ernst Christian Pfannschmidt .

coat of arms
Blazon : "In gold, two diagonally crossed blue scythe blades with the edge facing outwards, above a red bow tie with golden wings."
The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Schwerin heraldist Heinz Kippnick . It was approved together with the flag on February 13, 2001 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under the number 236 of the coat of arms of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. |
|
Reasons for the coat of arms: In the coat of arms, the bow tie should be used as a talking symbol to create a visual reference to the Slavic place name (mucha = fly). The scythe blades symbolize traditional agriculture as the main livelihood of the inhabitants, but also remind of the manufacture of scythe blades in the former village forge. The tinging of the coat of arms indicates that the municipality belongs to the Mecklenburg region. |
flag
The flag is striped in yellow, red and yellow across the longitudinal axis of the flag cloth. The yellow stripes each take up a quarter, the red stripe takes up half the length of the flag cloth. In the middle of the red stripe is the municipal coat of arms, which takes up two thirds of the height and one third of the length of the flag. The length of the flag is related to the height as 5: 3.
Official seal
The official seal shows the municipal coat of arms with the inscription "GEMEINDE MUCHOW".
