history
The first documentary mention comes from the year 1229 as "Laceke". At that time there was already a village church.
In 1791 the Groß Laasch village church was built as a single-aisle brick building closed on three sides after the previous building, a field stone church, had become dilapidated.
From February 1945 to May 1945 the Wöbbelin concentration camp existed in the district of Groß Laasch, about two kilometers west of the village center. A memorial was set up in 2005 at the former location of the camp.
On May 5, 2015, a tornado destroyed the old station building in Groß Laasch.
