history

Möllenbeck was first mentioned in a document in 1343. The former property of the von Bosel family passed to the Gans zu Putlitz family in 1409 . In the 15th century a manor arose from an estate. Due to the proximity to the border with the Mark Brandenburg, Möllenbeck was not spared from the fighting between Mecklenburg and the Mark Brandenburg, which at times even led to depopulation. From 1468 to 1822 the knightly von Koppelow family owned the land. At the end of the 17th century they built a mansion on old foundations and expanded it in the 18th century. In 1830 the estate was sold to the von Treuenfels family , who replaced the manor house with a new building. After the Second World War, the family was expropriated without compensation. The mansion was then used at times as a school and later as a sales point for food and as a cultural site until it was demolished in the mid-1980s.
