The municipal area borders directly on the state capital Schwerin in the east . An approximately twelve-hectare exclave of Klein Rogahn is located in the city of Schwerin. history
The first documentary mention comes from the year 1345. According to the register of settlers of the Schwerin Office, the performance of Groß Rogahn took place in the village and estate, this only changed in 1935 with increasing settlement. In 1712, Klein Rogahn's affiliation to the city of Wismar ended. In 1952, farmers were evicted as debtors. This gave them an opportunity to flee to Germany. Around 1960, farmers were collectivized in the agricultural production cooperatives , as is common in the GDR .
From 1952 to 1994 the community belonged to the Schwerin-Land district .
