history

Werder

Werder was first mentioned in a document on November 11, 1234. Prince Heinrich of Mecklenburg pledged his share in the Land Turne and the Lübzer Schloss Eldenburg to the brothers Helmold, Hinricke, Hennecken and Godewarde von Plessen, who lived in Lübz . It was not until 1446 that Werder was mentioned again in donations in the St. Marienkirche in Parchim . During the renovation of Lübz Castle, the farmers from Werder and Lattran (Lutheran) had to provide manual and clamping services.

During the Thirty Years' War there were skirmishes and looting as well as billeting in Werder. The height of the suffering and the destruction of the village was in 1635. In the inventory of the Princely Office of Lübz from May 31, 1644 you can read about the village of Werder: Hirin lived in 12 Hufener, with Schulzen, a half Hufener, 3 Kossaten and 7 Büdners, itzo still lives 7 in it. Some of the daughters worked in Lübz and the sons were soldiers in Denmark at the time.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities of Benthen and Tannenhof were incorporated. Ruthen joined on January 1, 1951.

In 1997 Werder was named the most beautiful municipality in the Parchim district, which existed until 2011 .

Benthen

Only one document is known about Benthen from the Middle Ages. On July 5, 1267, Bishop Hermann von Schwerin is said to have consecrated the church in Benthen . Since the 16th century and even later there was a lot of controversy between von Passow and von Weltzien , who sat on their Passow and Weisin estates, which were parish off to Benthen, and had different rights to individual farms in Benthen. Until 1700 the von Weltzien still sat in Benthen. Further ownership sequence:

  • until 1738 Adam Henning von Bülow.
  • until 1796 that of Weltzin, also Rittmeister Gottfried Hartwig von Weltzien as monastery captain in Dobbertin.
  • until 1801 Dr. August Wilhelm Studemund.
  • until 1810 Adam Ernst Friedrich Otto von Flotow.

  • 1738 Zibbeuren (Zibbuhr, Zebur)

Tannenhof was only raised to a main estate in 1796, when the Dobbertiner monastery captain, Captain Gottfried Hartwig von Weltzien, moved there.
