The municipality of Zierzow belongs to the Grabow district in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

Geography and transport links

Zierzow is located in the south of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district. Two country roads cross here. The nearest town, Grabow , is eight kilometers to the west, from here you can get to federal highway 5 and the train station on the Hamburg – Berlin route . From the Parchim motorway junction of the federal motorway 24 , it is eleven kilometers to Zierzow. The Tarnitz flows south through the municipality towards Löcknitz .

In the first documentary mention of the Mecklenburg record book from 1312, Margrave Waldemar von Brandenburg sold two Hufen land from Zierzow ("Cyrsowe") to the Eldena monastery . Kolbow was mentioned for the first time in 1339, this also involved a land sale.

Until 1990 the community was mainly characterized by agriculture.

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE ZIERZOW".
