history
Gneven was first mentioned in a document in 1246. The area had been settled for a long time. It was affected by the Thirty Years War . The area belonged to the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin until 1918 , then to the state of Mecklenburg and from 1952 to 1990 to the Schwerin district .
Gut Gneven often changed hands. It has been an agricultural productive cooperative (APG) since the 1990s. In the 16th century, the Gnevener manor house was owned by the von Plessen and von Kardorff families , later by the von Preen , von Walberg, von Petersdorff and finally in 1734 by the von Bassewitz families . Hugo Kruse acquired the estate in 1890. Felix Heribert Schoeller (1881–1958) was the owner of Gut Gneven since 1925. He sold the estate in 1927/1928 to the Felix Schoeller & Bausch fine paper factory in Neu Kaliss , which his grandfather Felix Heinrich Schoeller (1821–1893) had founded together with the secret councilor Theodor Bausch in 1872 and where he was employed as a technical manager . After 1945 the Schoeller family ran the Schoeller-Hof near Osnabrück , where they had been doing business with the Felix Schoeller Group founded by Felix Hermann Maria Schoeller (1855–1907) from 1895 and which is now one of the largest specialty paper manufacturers.
The classicist Gneven manor house was given its semicircular design around 1908. After 1945, it was used to house consumption, the restaurant, the community office and apartments. In the 1990s the building was renovated as a residential building.
Vorbeck: The core of the early Gothic church dates from the 14th century. Landowners were u. a. the families von Bülow (14th – 18th centuries), Ihlenfeld, von Pentz , Hansen, Ueckermann, Kruse, Strauss, Klatte, Reelfs and Schöller (until 1945). The manor house was built in 1912 on the vaulted cellar of a previous building.
