Felix Schoeller & Bausch is a paper mill in Neu Kaliss in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The company was renamed several times and is now called Neu Kaliß Spezialpapier GmbH with an operating facility in Heiddorf .

history

There was a paper mill in Neu Kaliss since 1799 . In 1871 the Düren-based paper manufacturer Felix Heinrich Schoeller took over the WA Markurth paper mill with his long-time employee Theodor Bausch . They operated the mill under the company Felix Schoeller & Bausch . and equipped them with paper machines for industrial use. Felix Schoeller & Bausch was the first factory in Mecklenburg to produce paper by machine. Schoeller withdrew from the company as early as 1879; Theodor Bausch and his sons became sole shareholders. Felix Schoeller's son Felix Hermann Maria Schoeller (1855–1907) stayed in Neu Kaliss and served the company as technical director for several years. Some new machines were bought in the 1910s. The Mecklenburg coat of arms , the bull's head, served as a watermark .

In 1946 the plant was dismantled on the orders of the Soviet occupation authorities . The lawyer and commercial director Rudolf Bausch was abducted and died in April 1946 in special camp No. 9 Fünfeichen . On the initiative of the director Viktor Bausch , a new paper machine was built under difficult conditions from old, reusable parts that were brought in from all over Germany. Bausch went to West Berlin in 1950.

During the GDR era, the factory was called VEB Feinpapierfabrik .

present

Neu Kaliß Spezialpapier GmbH , the successor to the Felix Schoeller & Bausch paper mill, has been part of the Melitta group of companies since 1992 . In 1995 the company moved to a new building in the Heiddorf industrial area. The company produces special papers and fleeces in a wide variety of processing, including coffee filters and wallpaper fleeces .

The historic factory site on the road of peace stands as a monument under monument protection . This extends to the entire former paper mill with factory halls, transformer house, gatehouse (no. 10), turntable for the small train, canal bridge and factory residential buildings.
