Viktor Bausch (born August 26, 1898 in Neu Kaliss , † August 30, 1983 in Gargnano on Lake Garda ) was a German entrepreneur in the paper industry .

Life

Viktor Bausch was a grandson of Theodor Bausch, co-founder of the Felix Schoeller & Bausch paper mill . He studied chemistry, mechanical engineering, philosophy and history at the Technical University of Darmstadt .

After completing his studies, he returned to the family business in Neu Kaliss. During the time of National Socialism he helped Jews and artists. In 1934 he was briefly arrested for this. He made sure that his college friend Theodor Haubach was employed in his company after he was released from the concentration camp in 1936.

In 1939 he became managing partner of the Felix Schoeller & Bausch company and married Erika von Hornstein (1913–2005).

In 1946 the plant was dismantled on the orders of the Soviet military administration in Germany . Viktor's brother, the lawyer and commercial director Rudolf Bausch, was abducted and died in April 1946 in special camp No. 9 Fünfeichen . On the initiative of Viktor Bausch, a new paper machine was built under difficult conditions from old reusable parts brought in from all over Germany until 1949 .

In 1950 Bausch left the GDR and went to West Berlin. Here he built up the new company Viktor Bausch & Co. , as well as IGRAF KG (today Surteco Group SE) in Buttenwiesen together with his nephew Johan Viktor Bausch . In 1971 he retired .

His son, the entrepreneur and philosopher Thomas Bausch (* 1940), received the family's three villas in Neu Kaliss and the associated park transferred back in the 1990s, but not the company. In 2007 he brought the Bauschpark into an independent, legally competent, non-profit foundation under civil law, the purpose of which is to promote the care and preservation of natural and architectural monuments, promote art and culture, education, upbringing and science and promote free charitable welfare . The foundation has had the park restored since 2009 and organized the energiewendekunst project in 2014 .
