The street runs in a north-south direction from the Am Markt square in the direction of Am Sande and connects the most important squares of Lüneburg with the Kleine Bäckerstrasse . The Große Bäckerstraße begins at the northeast corner of the Am Markt square and runs to the corner of Untere Schragenstraße / Glockenstraße , where it turns into Kleine Bäckerstraße. Apothekenstrasse branches off to the west, An den Brodbänken and Münzstrasse to the east . Footpaths branch off east to Zollstrasse and Glockenhof. The length of the street is 230 meters. The numbering starts in the north of the street on the western street and goes back on the eastern side.
history
The Grosse Bäckerstrasse was first mentioned in 1306 as "Platea pistorum". From 1431 a distinction was made between the Großer and Kleiner Bäckerstrasse. Große Bäckerstraße has been a pedestrian zone since 1968, it was the first in Lüneburg.
