At the bread banks
An den Brodbänken is a street in the Lower Saxony city of Lüneburg .
location
The street runs in a west-east direction, it begins at Am Markt / Große Bäckerstraße and goes to the offset crossing Koltmannstraße / Finkstraße . The length of the street is about 100 meters. On the corner of Am Markt, the first house on the north side of the street is Bardowicker Straße1, on the southern side the house at Große Bäckerstraße 33. After this house the numbering begins with the house An den Brodbänken 1a and continues with An den Brodbänken 1 to An den Brodbänken 7 to the corner of Finkstraße. The house at An den Brodbänken 8 is on the north side of the street at the corner of Koltmannstrasse. From here the numbering runs back to Bardowicker Straße. The street is a pedestrian zone for the entire route.
history
The street was mentioned the first of May in 1376. The name is reminiscent of the baker's stalls. In the 15th century the street was called "brodschrangen" in documents. The street development is mixed, there are buildings from the late Middle Ages, but also from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.
