history

Langen Brütz was first mentioned in a document in 1335 as Bruseuitz in terra Selesen , Kritzow as early as 1317. At that time, the Lords of Drieberg owned the place. The Schwerin cathedral chapter was later mentioned as the owner. The area has been settled for a long time, as some hill and stone graves are evidence of. In 1248, Richenberg Castle (near Kritzow an der Warnow) became the residence of Prince Pribislaw I of Parchim-Richenberg until his deposition in 1256 . From the beginning of the 16th century until 1730 the noble family von Halberstadt owned large parts of the place. Like the entire surrounding area, Langen Brütz was affected by the Thirty Years' War . In 1858 the church was torn down and rebuilt. Half the village burned down in 1897. The estate was relocated in 1923. The area belonged to the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin until the Second World War . After 1945 the place belonged first to the state of Mecklenburg and then from 1952–1990 to the Schwerin district . 1974 Langen Brütz and Kritzow merge. The estate became an agricultural productive cooperative (APG) in the 1990s.
