history
Picher was first mentioned in a document as Pychere in 1291 , once belonged to the County of Dannenberg until it changed to the County of Schwerin at the beginning of the 14th century . In 1303 the Eldena Monastery bought property from Detlef von Plöne. In 1319 a church from the 13th century is mentioned for the first time, which was expanded several times, but demolished in 1875 due to dilapidation and due to the limited space and then replaced by a larger building in neo-Gothic style. Picher was a communion village until it was taken over by the sovereign in 1588 . Craftsmen settled in the village, which is quite large with 35 hooves , at an early age. In the 18th century there was a smelting furnace for silver extraction from the drifting sands found near Picher.
Jasnitz was first mentioned in a document as Yotzenisse from 1458. Due to the high density of game, hunting was pursued intensively in a grand ducal game garden that was created in 1873 from a so-called sucking species . Forestry also played an economic role.
In the state competition “Our village should become more beautiful - our village has a future ”, Picher took first place in 2010, which was due to the wide-ranging infrastructure and the well-kept condition of the historic buildings.

coat of arms
Blazon : "In green under a silver fallow deer shovel, a slanted silver ear with seven black awns and a silver hammer slanted to the left."
The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Schwerin heraldist Karl-Heinz Steinbruch . It was approved on November 27, 2002 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under the number 270 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. |
|
Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms symbolizes the economic foundations of both districts: the fallow deer shovel stands for the district of Jasnitz, which is mainly characterized by hunting, and the Ähre and Hammer for the district of Picher, which is particularly characterized by agriculture and crafts. |
flag
The flag was approved by the Ministry of the Interior on January 29, 2004.
The flag is made of green cloth. It is covered in the middle with the figures of the municipal coat of arms: at the top with a white fallow deer shovel, below with a white ear of wheat placed at an angle to the left along with seven black awns and a white hammer placed at an angle to the right. The fallow deer shovel takes up a quarter, the ear and the hammer each take up half the height of the flag cloth. The length of the flag is related to the height as 5: 3.
Official seal
The official seal shows the municipal coat of arms with the inscription "GEMEINDE PICHER • LANDKREIS LUDWIGSLUST-PARCHIM".
