history

prehistory

There is a Neolithic earthwork in the field of Plate . During excavations for a natural gas route, a settlement site of the Maglemose culture , a bell beaker and early Bronze Age kiln pits were discovered. In the field of Peckatel in 1843 the cult car of Peckatel was found during the construction of a railway during the excavation of a burial mound from the Bronze Age .

Since the village was founded

The church village Plate (Plote - Slavic word for fence) is mentioned as early as 1191. In a papal deed it was stated that the income from the shipping customs in Plate should be used to procure lights for the Schwerin Cathedral. At the time, the cathedral chapter acquired a great deal of land in Plate, later it passed into dominal property, and the dukes granted the place customs and fishing rights. Plate developed into a farming and Büdner village. In 1567 the first bridge with an associated customs office was built over the Stör.

The patronage for the church was in sovereign possession from the beginning. According to a church visit protocol from 1534, the dukes Heinrich and Albrecht appointed Johann Flomhelt to be Lord of the Church of Plate and their daughter churches in Banzkow and Consrade in 1518. There is evidence that Peckatel became a daughter church of Plate in 1596. In 1849 the church in Plate was built as a neo-Gothic brick building based on a design by the Schwerin architect Theodor Krüger .

After the surrender of Germany in 1945, Plate temporarily ran the demarcation line between the Red Army and the troops of the Western powers.

The private radio station Antenne MV broadcast from Plate from May 1993 to February 2016.

On 21 May 2009, the Municipality of one was F2 - tornado hit, the damaged among others more than 60 homes and caused property damage of more than 3.5 million euros.

From 1952 to 1994, Plate belonged to the Schwerin-Land district (until 1990 in the GDR district of Schwerin , 1990–1994 in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). In 1994 the community was incorporated into the Parchim district. Since the district reform in 2011 , it has been in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district .

  • Church in Plate

The Schwerin architect Theodor Krüger designed the five - bay neo - Gothic church with a choir polygon built in 1848/49 . It stands on a high pedestal in the middle of the village. There used to be a bell tower on the west gable, it was destroyed by fire in 1874. Instead, there is a belfry next to the west gable. The two bells come from Eduard Albrecht's Wismar workshop and were cast in 1874. In the church there is an organ from the workshop of the organ builder Friedrich Friese in Schwerin , which was installed in 1873.

The towerless half-timbered building is closed on three sides in the east, which indicates that it was built in the 16th century, other details suggest that it was more likely to be in the 17th century. In the years 1831 and 1968, the church was completely renovated and partially redesigned inside. The interior consists of an undivided room with a flat ceiling.

The church is considered the smallest half-timbered church in Mecklenburg. It was built in 1692. In the east it is closed on three sides. In the west there is a low, boarded wooden tower with a gable roof. Its boards are said to have been obtained from the wood of the previous building. It was a small chapel that was destroyed in the Thirty Years War . The church is surrounded by a village of anger with old trees , which was previously a cemetery. In the past, the church was only used for days of penance and prayer .
