The church from the south

The Consrader church is located on the edge of the sturgeon glacial valley next to the former Meierhof (ducal court) in Consrade (municipality of Plate ). There are centuries-old oaks in the churchyard and in the neighboring estate.

architecture

It is a half-timbered building made of oak, filled with bricks and closed on three sides in the east. The hipped roof is covered with beaver tails in crown cover. There is no tower, but there is a wooden belfry in the west .

Building history

In a church visitation protocol of 1540 a daughter church is mentioned by Plate in Consrade first time. From the 13th to the middle of the 16th century, the village of Consrade belonged to the Cistercian monastery Reinfeld in Holstein. The church or a previous building may have already stood in Consrade at the time of the monastery.

The exact year of construction of a church is not known. The half-timbered building could have been built in the 16th century, but the design and technical details suggest that it was built in the 17th century.

In 1780 the dilapidated church was supposed to be torn down due to lack of money, but this did not happen. In 1831 it was renovated for the first time. Fundamental renovation work was only carried out again in 1968 during Jürgen Hebert's pastorate . Windows, doors and the floor were renewed. Truss parts and the roof structure have been replaced. The entire roof was re-covered.

Furnishing

inner space

The interior is flat, undivided and has a simple character.

  • The Dresden sculptor Friedrich Press created the altar from red Meissen granite as well as the altar candlestick and the metal crucifix in 1968 .
  • To the left and right of the altar there are two figures on the wall that come from a Gothic carved altar. They show Mary with the child and the evangelist John with a chalice.
  • Another wooden sculpture on the side in front of the altar shows the thorn-crowned head of Jesus.
  • The pulpit from the 17th century is attached to the wall without a foot.
  • The baptismal font dates from the 13th century. The foot in the form of a granite cube is more recent. It was added during the reorganization in 1920.

organ

The organ on the west gallery was created in 1902 by organ builder Marcus Runge from Schwerin. The Taschenladen instrument originally had 5 stops on a manual (C – f 3 : Principal 8 ′, Flute 8 ′, Salicional 8 ′, Octave 4 ′) and a pedal (C – c 1 : Subbass 16 ′). In 1967 the instrument was made by the organ builder Wolfgang Nußbücker rearranged and the manual pipework placed on a cone chest. Today it has four stops on a manual (Gedackt 8 ′, Principal 4 ′, Octave 2 ′) and a pedal (Subbass 16 ′). The actions are pneumatic.

Bell cage and bells

Belfry

The belfry is intended for two bells, of which only the larger one has been preserved (diameter 0.87 m). It was cast in 1543 and is richly decorated. In addition to various kinds of flower depictions, the Annunciation of the Angel to Mary is shown. The smaller bell (diameter 0.77 m) was melted down in 1916 during the First World War . It was cast from an older bell in 1874 by the court bell founder Peter Martin Hausbrandt in Wismar.
