About this picture

The municipality of Dambeck belongs to the Grabow district in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).

geography

Dambeck is located in a flat field and meadow landscape in the south of the district in the immediate vicinity of the upper Löcknitz and borders on the Brandenburg district of Prignitz . To the northeast of the municipality are the Ruhner Mountains . The mostly agriculturally used municipal areas are drained by receiving waters in the direction of Karve, Brunower Mühlenbach and Löcknitz. There are no larger contiguous forest areas in the municipality. The Brandenburg Perleberg is the next largest city 19 kilometers to the southeast . The northwestern city of Ludwigslust is about 23 kilometers away.

history

Dambeck was first mentioned in a document in 1366. Finds prove a settlement from the oldest Iron Age . In addition, the remains of a Slavic castle wall were found in a quarry southwest of Dambeck. In the center of the village is the Romanesque / Gothic stone village church.

On 1 August 1992. Dambeck was from the now Brandenburg Kreis Perleberg the district Ludwigslust assigned.

coat of arms

Dambeck coat of arms
Blazon : "In gold, a slightly raised blue wavy bar, accompanied: above by a three-leaved green oak branch with two green acorns, below by a red crab."

The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Schwerin heraldist Karl-Heinz Steinbruch . It was approved by the Ministry of Interior on June 10, 2016.

Founding of the coat of arms: The red cancer goes back historically to the brothers Henning and Johann Roskule, who wore this animal as their coat of arms in 1356 and who are said to have been related to the Dambeck families of Paschedag and von Ditten, who also have a cancer in their coat of arms. The oak leaf, on the other hand, has its origin in the name of the municipality, which goes back to the Old Slavonic (dabu = oak). Both fields with the common figures are separated by a wavy bar, which is supposed to symbolize the stream flowing through the village, the "Goldbeke" .

flag

The flag is striped lengthways in red, yellow and green. The red stripe takes up seven eighteenth notes, the yellow stripe two eighteenth notes and the green stripe half the height of the flag cloth. In the center of the flag, eight ninths of the height of the flag, is the municipal coat of arms. The relation of the height of the flag cloth to the length is like 3: 5.

Official seal

The official seal shows the municipal coat of arms with the inscription "GEMEINDE DAMBECK".
