About this picture

Kirch Jesar is a municipality in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany. It is administered by the Office Hagenow-Land , based in the city of Hagenow .

geography

The former farming village is six kilometers east of the city of Hagenow on the edge of the Jasnitzer Forest. The district of Neu Klüß, located immediately east of the main town, belongs to Kirch Jesar. The next junction on Autobahn 24 is Hagenow , about five kilometers north of Kirch Jesar. The Hamburg – Schwerin railway line is located away from the village in the extension of the village and has its own stopping point for passenger trains in Kirch Jesar.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1371.

Theodor Körner wrote his probably last letter on August 23, 1813 from Kirch Jesar. This letter was addressed to Daniel Friedrich Parthey .

coat of arms

Coat of arms of Kirch Jesar
Blazon : "In gold over a blue corrugated shield base, in it a silver fish, a red church with three (2: 1) windows in the church tower and four windows in the nave."

The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Schwerin heraldist Karl-Heinz Steinbruch . It was approved on August 13, 1996 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under the number 107 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Justification of the coat of arms: Since 1970, Kirch Jesar had a coat of arms that did not meet the requirements, especially in terms of symbolism: Divided; above in red a golden miter, below in blue a silver fish. In the new coat of arms, the church and the corrugated shield base, as speaking symbols, create a visual reference to the community name, the second part of which is traced back to the Old Slavonic ( jezero = lake). At the same time, the church symbolizes the church built at the beginning of the 18th century and rebuilt in the 19th century. The fish should remind of the former abundance of fish in the now almost silted lake.

flag

The flag was approved on March 6, 2001 by the Ministry of the Interior.

The flag is evenly striped lengthways with blue and yellow. In the middle of the flag, two-thirds of the height of the blue and yellow stripes, is the municipal coat of arms. The length of the flag is related to the height as 5: 3.

Official seal

The official seal shows the municipal coat of arms with the inscription "GEMEINDE KIRCH JESAR • LANDKREIS LUDWIGSLUST-PARCHIM".

Attractions

Village church

The church is a half-timbered building from the 18th century. There is a restored smokehouse within the town center . The main street has the character of an avenue and is lined with oak trees that are over 100 years old. A cycle path leads from Kirch Jesar through the wooded area to Hagenow.

The architectural monuments of the community are listed in the list of architectural monuments in Kirch Jesar .
