Schossin is a municipality in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). It is administered by the Stralendorf Office , based in the Stralendorf municipality.

The district of Mühlenbeck belongs to Schossin.

Geography and transport links

The community is about 15 kilometers southwest of Schwerin. The Sude flows along the eastern municipal boundary. Other nearby towns are Hagenow and Wittenburg . The federal highway 321 runs about seven kilometers east of Schossin, the next motorway connection to the A 24 is eleven kilometers away.

The elongated place, partly interrupted by meadows and fields, has its center in a former estate.

history

The two districts as well as the Sudemühle settlement are former manor villages. In addition to the manor house, reapers and farmhouses are a reminder of this . Sudemühle is a former mill location. The manor house in Schossin is now privately owned again and has been extensively renovated.

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE SCHOSSIN • LANDKREIS LUDWIGSLUST-PARCHIM".

religion

24% of the population belong to the Evangelical Church, 1% to the Catholic Church. The parish in the neighboring village of Parum , parish of Dümmer , is responsible for the Lutherans and belongs to the Wismar provost in the Mecklenburg parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany . The few Catholics belong to the parish of Christ King with its seat in Wittenburg , whose nearest branch churches are in Pogreß ( Birth of Mary , no regular service) and Dreilützow ( St. Josef ).
