About this picture

Brahlstorf is a municipality in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). Since August 1, 2004, the municipality has been part of the Boizenburg-Land office with its seat in the non-official city of Boizenburg / Elbe , before that Brahlstorf belonged to the Vellahn office . The municipality is divided into the districts of Brahlstorf and Düssin.

geography

The easternmost community in the office is located within the Elbe-Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania river landscape biosphere reserve and borders the Neuhaus district in Lower Saxony in the south . The Brahlstorfer Bach , which rises near Vellahn, flows south through the municipality towards Sude . Brahlstorf has a stop for local trains on the Berlin – Hamburg line and was the starting point for the Neuhaus – Brahlstorf small railway until 1972 .

history

Brahlstorf is first mentioned in a document as Bralistorp in Isfried's partition contract of 1194 . From September 15, 1944 to March 1, 1945, there was a satellite camp of Neuengamme in the Düssin district .

politics

Coat of arms, flag, official seal

The municipality has no officially approved national emblem, neither a coat of arms nor a flag. The official seal is the small state seal with the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg. It shows a looking bull's head with a torn off neck fur and crown and the inscription "GEMEINDE BRAHLSTORF • LANDKREIS LUDWIGSLUST-PARCHIM".

economy

The community is dominated by agriculture. In addition to cattle breeding, asparagus is particularly widespread.

In 2007, a cattle shed in the Düssin district from 1913 was converted into a shoe production facility. The running shoe manufacturer Lunge produces high quality running shoes here. Production began with five employees, an expansion to up to 50 employees is considered possible.
