Location of the municipality of Brenz in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district | ||
Brenz is an independent municipality in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). It is administered by the Neustadt-Glewe office based in the city of Neustadt-Glewe .
geography
The community is made up of the districts of Alt Brenz with the village church located on a hill and Neu Brenz with the old Slavic castle. The Brenz Canal runs west of the municipality .
history
Around 700 a Slavic castle was built in the area of today's Brenz. The remains of the castle wall can still be seen in Neu Brenz in the direction of Lewitz . The first documentary mention of Brenz was in 946 as terra brenzia in a document from King Otto I.
According to the local church book, the Neu Brenz complex is the result of a major fire in Brenz on March 29, 1800, in which 64 houses and the parish including all church records fell victim to the flames.
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipality of Neu Brenz was incorporated. On November 1, 1968, the former municipality of Neuhof and its district of Klein Laasch merged into the municipality of Brenz. On January 1, 1974 Brenz was incorporated into Blievenstorf , Neuhof and Klein Laasch, however, were reclassified to Neustadt-Glewe. On May 1, 1990, Alt Brenz and Neu Brenz were hived off to form an independent municipality of Brenz.
politics
coat of arms
Blazon : “Split; in front, in gold, a floating, pointed red castle tower of Slavic construction with an open gate; behind in blue two diagonally crossed golden ears of corn with black awns. "
The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Schwerin heraldist Heinz Kippnick . It was approved together with the flag on August 18, 2003 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under No. 284 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. |
|
Reasons for the coat of arms: In the coat of arms, the castle tower is intended to remind of the old Slavic settlement area, on whose cultural layer the historical castle complex was once built. The ears of grain both establish a connection to the early German farming village and symbolize the traditional main line of business of the villagers, agriculture. The tinging in blue, gold and red is intended to indicate that the municipality belongs to the Mecklenburg region. |
flag
The flag is striped evenly and across the longitudinal axis of the flag cloth of blue and yellow. In the middle of the flag, spanning a third of the length of the blue and yellow stripes, is the municipal coat of arms. The length of the flag is related to the height as 5: 3.
Official seal
The official seal shows the municipal coat of arms with the inscription "• GEMEINDE BRENZ •".
