Records from around 1700 indicate that there were sovereign farms in Kraak and Rastow. A hunting lodge, a grain mill and a powder mill are also mentioned in Kraak . The latter was most likely on the site of today's Pulverhof district. There was a church in Rastow, but it no longer existed around 1700.

coat of arms

Rastow coat of arms
Blazon : “Divided; a silver Maltese cross above in red; below in gold two upright red stag poles with turned away ends. "

The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Schwerin heraldist Heinz Kippnick . It was approved together with the flag on September 21, 2000 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under the number 228 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Justification of the coat of arms: In the coat of arms the Maltese cross reminds of the former Johanniter Commandery Kraak, which was important for the colonization of the area. The antlers are intended to indicate that the game population has always been significant in the wooded area. The tinging in red and gold establishes the reference to the former county of Schwerin .
