history
The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1218. In that year the county Schwerin sold the village to the Cistercian monastery Reinfeld in Holstein. Through the Reformation in the 16th century, the village came under the rule of the dukes of Mecklenburg ( Domanium ). Originally Uelitz owned twelve farms, which were arranged around the church. In the 19th century, there was a windmill in Uelitz on the former road to Hoort.
During the Third Reich, the Luftwaffe ammunition facility (Muna) Pulverhof / Uelitz was located in the forest area west of the railway embankment on an area of approx. 500 ha. Ammunition was stored and repaired there.
From 1952 to 1994 Uelitz belonged to the former Schwerin-Land district . The stables built and used by the former LPG in the village were completely shut down and demolished after 1990. In 1995 a new residential area was built in the area of the Lange Weg.

coat of arms
Blazon : "In red an obliquely left, double-rowed red-silver bar, accompanied: above by a golden weathercock, below by a golden winged cross of a windmill."
The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Schwerin heraldist Heinz Kippnick . It was approved together with the flag on September 21, 2000 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under the number 230 of the coat of arms of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. |

Reasons for the coat of arms: The coat of arms of the Cistercian order shows that Uelitz belonged to the former Cistercian monastery of Reinfeld. The weathercock stands for the village church, which was built in 1747 and fitted with a tower in neo-Gothic style in 1893/94. The winged cross is intended to remind of a windmill that still existed in the 20th century. The colors red and gold allude to the former belonging to the county of Schwerin . |
flag
The flag is striped in red, yellow and red across the longitudinal axis of the flag cloth. The red stripes each take up a quarter, the yellow stripe takes up half the length of the flag cloth. In the middle of the yellow stripe is the municipal coat of arms, which takes up two thirds of the height and one third of the length of the flag. The length of the flag is related to the height as 5: 3.
Official seal
The official seal shows the municipal coat of arms with the inscription "• GEMEINDE UELITZ •".

The village church, built in 1745/54 using medieval building materials, is a single-nave, flat-roofed brick building with a polygonal east end. In the interior there is a precious baroque ceiling painting from 1750, which is unique for north German village churches, which was restored in 2007. The church tower with an eight-sided, slate-covered helmet was built in 1893/94; it houses one of the oldest medieval church bells in Mecklenburg.
The rectory is a half-timbered building from 1786. In addition to the residential building, the rectory includes a barn, a stable and the toilet block. Opposite the rectory and near the church is the old syringe house.
