history
Like many other places in the area, Presek was first mentioned in a document in 1230 in the Ratzeburg tithe register and emerged from a Slavic settlement. Hülseburg did not appear for the first time until 1571 in an inheritance deed and was a new establishment on unpopulated land. Both places were once owned by the landed gentry based on Gut Hülseburg. The Thirty Years War claimed many victims among the residents.
Hülseburg offered the visitors once a magnificent neo-Gothic castle on the western edge, which was originally built in the early 18th century and 1860 on behalf of Baron von Campe historicist was rebuilt. It burned down on January 6, 1947, presumably by arson. The fire ruin was blown up in 1948. The former park has a size of 7.7 hectares.
Since there was no church in any of the towns, the residents had to go to the church in Gammelin for a long time . In the course of the castle renovation in 1860, a neo-Gothic grave chapel was also built outside the village, which was converted from a dilapidated state into a church from 1951 to 1953. The coffins of the von Campe family from the chapel's vault were reburied next to the building. The bell tower was demolished in the 1970s, and a free-standing belfry was created for it. The chapel, which was again dilapidated at the time, has not been used since 1989 and has been owned by the municipality of Hülseburg since 1997.
The community has always been characterized by agriculture.
