history

The first documentary mention of Pätow took place in 1194 in Isfried's partition contract as Putechowe . The village is also listed in the Ratzeburg Tithe Register of 1230, a list of tithes awarded by the bishop of the Ratzeburg diocese and his feudal husbands, sorted by parish . After that the village consisted of 24 hooves . The increased agricultural use of the area led to the first settlements in Steegen in 1764, where three farmers from Pätow were relocating by 1867. The community has always been characterized by agriculture.

On May 13, 1993 the municipality name was changed: Pätow became Pätow-Steegen .

coat of arms

Coat of arms of Pätow-Steegen
Blazon : “In gold between two curved green diagonal lower corners, a blue shield base; on the sloping lower corners a connecting blue bar, above a left-turning black plow. "

The coat of arms and the flag were designed by the Schwerin heraldist Karl-Heinz Steinbruch . It was approved on January 23, 1996 by the Ministry of the Interior and registered under No. 97 of the coat of arms of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Reasons for the coat of arms: The coat of arms combines a speaking sign and a symbol with reference to the acquisition. The bar beam reflects part of the place name. At the same time it symbolizes the two districts connected by a footbridge. The plow points to the importance of agriculture in the past and present of the community.

flag

The flag was approved by the Ministry of the Interior on January 13, 2005.

The flag is evenly striped lengthways with green and yellow. In the middle of the flag, at two thirds of the height of the green and yellow stripes, is the municipal coat of arms. The length of the flag is related to the height as 5: 3.

Official seal

The official seal shows the municipal coat of arms with the inscription "GEMEINDE PÄTOW-STEEGEN • LANDKREIS LUDWIGSLUST-PARCHIM".
