The Brenz Canal is an artificially created left branch of the Elde in the southwest of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The Brenz Canal branches off to the west of Garwitz from the Elde, the canalised course of which is now also known as the Müritz-Elde waterway , and initially runs parallel to it. North of the Neuhöfer carp ponds, the watercourse bends to the east until it meets the road 81. From here the water flows in a southerly direction between the towns of Neustadt-Glewe and Neu Brenz , passes under the federal highway 191 and the federal motorway 24 and finally flows south of Neustadt-Glewe in the municipality of Blievenstorf into the Elde. In its course, the flowing water is additionally fed by drainage ditches.

The Brenz Canal was created in 1862/63 for the purpose of draining part of the Lewitz . The drainage of the water and the lowered water level made it possible to cultivate adjacent fields with plows and harnesses.

The total length of the trench is about 16.5 kilometers.
