Beatrix of Brandenburg
Beatrix von Brandenburg († September 22, 1314 in Wismar ) was the first wife of Heinrich II (the lion) (1266-1329), Prince of Mecklenburg, whom she married in 1292 at Stargard Castle.
Beatrix was the daughter of Margrave Albrecht III. of Brandenburg and Mathilde of Denmark. The wedding of 1292 is historically significant because Beatrix, as Wittum, brought the Stargard rule into the marriage and thus into the hands of the Mecklenburgers . Since there were no male descendants from the marriage, the Ascanians viewed the Wittum as having died back after Beatrix's death. The inheritance dispute that developed from this between Mecklenburg and Brandenburg over this rule culminated in the " Margrave War ", which ended with the " Peace of Templin " in 1317 and brought the Stargard rule permanently to Mecklenburg.
