Tetsunosuke Kushida

Tetsunosuke Kushida ( Japanese 櫛 田 胅 之 扶 , Kushida Tetsunosuke , * 1935 in Kyōto Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese composer .

He studied at the Kyoto Kyōiku Daigaku ( "Kyoto University of Education") Mathematics and Tadashi Fukumoto composition . After completing his diplomas, he completed his studies with Nagomi Nakaseko and the film music composer Nakaba Takahashi . As a member of the composer group Tsu-ku-ru in Kyoto , he participated in the exchange with his composer colleagues and he started his wide-ranging compositional activities. He grew up in a very musical family and is very familiar with the original instruments and authentic Japanese music.

After winning the Ongaku-no-Tomo-sha Corporation Prize for Composition in 1969 for his work Stone Garden , he completed his studies in composition for wind orchestra with Paul Yoder and Ichitaro Tsujii . The first conductor of his composition Asuka , Tsujii certainly had a great influence on Kushida's works for wind orchestra.

He was visiting professor at Osaka Ongaku Daigaku (" Osaka College of Music" ) and lectured on Japanese Traditional Music and Wind Music . In March 1997 he gave lectures under the same title in Hiroshima and Okayama and held subsequent concerts with the Symphonic Wind Orchestra of Nagoya University of Arts .

He founded a music project in Kyoto : "Gosho-no-Mori", a center for musical activities.
