course

Bresenitz in front of the flow of the Woseriner See

The Bresenitz rises from the Karinmoor on the southwestern outskirts of Reimershagen in the Rostock district and flows through the Reimershagener See shortly afterwards . In the upper reaches strongly straightened her path leads to the northwest to the nature reserve Breeser lake located Breesensee , which run among other Rotbeck and the surrounding wetland draining ditches. To the west is the Suckwitzer See, through which the Bresenitz also flows . The water runs in a south-westerly direction as far as Lake Nienhäger . From there, the Bresenitz crosses the Sternberger Seenland Nature Park . It turns northwest and flows through Lake Garder near Lohmen . The Bollbach, which flows into the Garder See, is a right tributary of the Bresenitz.

At the confluence with the Woseriner See , the border with the Ludwigslust-Parchim district is crossed. The lake, which is divided into three basins by the island in the middle of the water, is abandoned on the south-west bank. After flowing through the Bresenitzsee and crossing under the Bundesstraße 192 , the Bresenitz flows 700 meters southeast of the Neu Woserin district of Borkow into the Mildenitz, which carries the water away via the Warnow into the Baltic Sea.

The Bresenitz overcomes a height difference of about 21 meters in its course.

history

The Bresenitz brook was first mentioned in a document as Bresenitze when the Dobbertiner monastery property was expanded in 1237 . In this document, the Lord of Rostock Nikolaus pressed the boundaries of the monastery area, including ... the Milnitz (Mildenitz) brook from Jawir See ( Dobbertiner See ) to Lake Wostrowitz (the drained Klädener and Dobbiner See ) and on to the Bresenitze brook ( Bresenitz) ...

In the area of the former Dobbertiner Klosterforst, the Bresenitz was regulated from 1851 by deepening the river bed and clearing the edges to drain the surrounding area.

On April 8, 1882, the monastery governor, Christian Joachim Hugo Karl von Bernstorff, had the Dobbertiner forest inspector Garthe tacitly remove a warning sign from the Bresenitz and put Schleete (round wood) over the Bresenitz. If Woseriner presume to read wood, they are to be seized , was his determination.
