Christian Joachim Hugo Friedrich Karl Graf von Bernstorff - Joachim von Bernstorff (born May 31, 1834 in Wedendorf , † July 22, 1901 in Gartow ) was a royal Hanover cavalry captain , monastery captain and landowner.

Life

Joachim von Bernstorff's parents were Count Bechtold von Bernstorff , district administrator and member of the German Reichstag , and his wife, Freiin Thekla von Bibra a. d. H. Irmelshausen (1810-1884). He spent his childhood in Gartow in Wendland . This was followed by a military career as an officer in the Royal Hanoverian Guard Cuirassiers .

Bernstorff married Freiin Adelheid von dem Bussche-Ippenburg , known as von Kessell (1837-1900), in Cannstatt in 1863 , and they had 6 children. With the rank of Rittmeister on the General Staff, he took his leave around 1866. From his father he received the property Wahrstorf in the Grevesmühlen office and Ventschow in the Mecklenburg office, and he took up residence in Ventschow.

On December 2, 1869, at the age of 35, he was elected the new monastery captain of the Dobbertin monastery in the Mecklenburg state parliament in Sternberg . As a noble women's monastery, Dobbertin Monastery was one of the largest and richest Mecklenburg regional monasteries. He was in charge of asset management for the monastery from 1870 to 1882. During his time, restorations were carried out on the village churches in Lohmen , Sietow and Kirch Kogel .

In 1890 he took over after his father's death as inheriting commissioner the estate in Gartow. Bernstorff died in 1901 a few weeks after his 67th birthday.
