Serrahn is a district of the municipality of Kuchelmiß in the Rostock district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany.

Serrahn is located in the center of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the northeast bank of the Krakower See and on the north bank of the Serrahner See. To the north of the village, the fog emerges from Lake Krakow and breaks through a ridge in a wooded area. The course of the river and adjacent areas are designated as a nature reserve from there to Klueß .

The built-up location is about 50 to 60 m above sea level. NHN . To the south lies the 61 meter high Glockenberg. The terrain drops to 48 meters towards the lake shores. The Serrahn Hof settlement is 500 meters east of Serrahn.

history

Former customs house

Serrahn is mentioned in 1296 as ceran and in 1517 as Serran . The name is of Slavic origin and means something like catching eel .

Serrahn belonged to the Kuchelmisser estate, which had belonged to the Hahn family for centuries . Count Max Hahn (1838–1903), son of Count Friedrich Hahn on Basedow, sold the properties of Kuchelmiß, Serrahn, Wilsen, Wilser Hütte and Hinzenhagen to Prince Albert of Saxony-Altenburg in 1896 ; the area was considered one of the best deer hunts . The prince also acquired Ahrenshagen and Seegrube. He died on Serrahn in 1902 and was buried in the forest near Wilsen at his request. The property fell to his two daughters. The two-storey mansion (castle) from 1866 in U-shape with a mansard roof was demolished in the 1950s and the estate was relocated.

Attractions

  • Gothic brick church of Serrahn from 1240; Conversion in 1872 according to plans by Theodor Krüger and enlarged to a cruciform church; Property wall made of bricks on a field stone foundation with openings as Gothic arches. The church's furnishings include the richly ornamented organ front from 1740. In the north side chapel there is a high-quality altarpiece by Karl Gottfried Pfannschmidt from 1873/74. The brick tower with a fieldstone base contains four bells.
  • The former customs house Alte Post was first mentioned in 1687. The half-timbered building with a half- hipped roof , bat dormers and a dwarf house is now the seat of a diaconal institution.
  • The former forge of the village, now used as a residential building, is a field stone building, the vestibule of which is supported by four columns.
  • In a wooded area about 1.5 km southeast of Serrahn there is a well-preserved large stone grave from the Neolithic Age .

traffic

District road 28 runs through Serrahn from Kuchelmiß to Dobbin . Other connecting roads lead to the Ahrenshagen district , Langhagen and Krakow am See . The federal autobahn 19 , which runs east of the town, can be reached via the Kuchelmiß junction. The next train station with regular passenger transport is in Langhagen.
