The Alt Schönau Castle ( Polish: Zamek w Starej Kraśnicy ) is located in Stara Kraśnica (German Alt Schönau ) in the rural municipality of Świerzawa ( Schönau ) in the powiat Złotoryjski ( Goldberg ) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland. It belongs to the late palace buildings of the Renaissance in Silesia .
Building
The building was originally three-story and 11 window axes long, and was shortened by four axes in the 19th century. The window frames and the portal date from the construction period, which is probably around 1620. The large central hall on the ground floor is remarkable, which is vaulted by an arched barrel , into which narrow lancet caps cut to the full height of the vault. The barrel vault is adorned with angel heads, rosettes and masks. The stucco work is similar to that of the Schweinhausburg .
The castle stands in an open courtyard, which is bordered by a wall and corner bastions. The wall ring is broken through by the driving gate and the pedestrian gate. The drive gate and pedestrian gate are designed by squaring the blocking joints. The keyhole notches are designed like in the Schweinhausburg . A decorative gable with volutes is located above the gate . The lower area of the decorative gable is decorated with two coats of arms, above there is a blown volute attachment with an obelisk and ball. The building inscription in the attic of the gate refers to Margarthe Schlisszin born Schweinachin, which had "dis house" built in 1622 and 1623 as "Wittib".
