The Mecklenburg-Vorpommersche Verkehrsgesellschaft ( MVVG ) is a municipal transport company based in Demmin , which operates the bus connections in the Mecklenburg Lake District and the passenger ferry in Aalbude . The service area in Germany's largest district covers a total of around 5,600 square kilometers.
MVVG was created in 2013 from the merger of the two municipal transport companies Demminer Verkehrsgesellschaft (DVG) and Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Strelitz (VMS).
history
As a consequence of the unification of the two districts of Demmin and Mecklenburg-Strelitz , the two municipal transport companies VMS and DVG merged in order to avoid duplicate structures.
In addition, the VMS line concessions expired in 2015 . According to EU law, the subcontractor quota would have had to be below 50 percent for the direct award again , which was not the case with VMS.
MVVG relinquished operations in the Jarmen / Loitz area by January 1, 2016, while the transport company in the neighboring district took over. The Loitz and Jarmen administrative areas became part of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district during the district reform in 2014 .
With the purchase of Personenverkehr Müritz GmbH (pvm) from Waren , MVVG also took over transport in the area of the former Müritz district on January 1, 2017 . Since the beginning of 2017, all scheduled traffic in the Mecklenburg Lake District (except for the city traffic in Neubrandenburg ) has been provided by MVVG.

The Mecklenburg-Vorpommersche Verkehrsgesellschaft has its own fleet of around 190 buses in the north of your traffic area (Waren / Neubrandenburg / Demmin). These are located at the depots in Friedland , Neubrandenburg , Demmin , Altentreptow , Stavenhagen , Röbel / Müritz and Waren (Müritz) . Most of the vehicles are regional buses . The company's own vehicles are equipped with camera monitoring systems and illuminated displays, and every newly purchased bus has a lift or a ramp for barrier-free access.
In the southern part of the traffic area (Neustrelitz area), the transport services are almost exclusively provided by subcontractors , who keep more than 70 additional buses available.
The traffic area is characterized by a very sparsely populated area with a comparatively low passenger potential. The timetables of most bus lines are therefore based on school traffic , during the school holidays many lines are only operated on individual days of the week. At times of low load, alternative forms of operation are increasingly used, i. H. Trips are carried out with regular taxis or on-call busses (upon prior appointment by telephone).
A central customer center is located at the central bus station (ZOB) in Neubrandenburg . The MVVG's Mecklenburg Lake District Mobility Center is an information and inquiry point for all matters relating to regional local transport.
Tariff
The Mecklenburg Lake District community tariff applies on MVVG buses . MVVG bus tickets are also accepted on the Kleinseenbahn trains between Neustrelitz and Mirow as well as Waren and Malchow , and vice versa, train tickets are also accepted on the buses that regularly run in parallel.
For trips to and from Neubrandenburg , the combined ticket MSE is offered, which is valid on the trains of the Kleinseenbahn, regional buses and city transports (such as the Neubrandenburg city buses ) on the respective route.
There is a special tariff for the seasonal Müritz National Park Line, the Müritz National Park Ticket . This includes free bike transport - within the limits of the capacity of the bike trailer - and is optionally available in the form of a combined ticket for the national park buses of the MVVG and the Müritz shipping of the White Fleet.
