Life

Awe studied chemistry at the University of Greifswald since 1918 . During his studies he was called up for military service, after which he switched to pharmacy. From 1919 to 1922 he worked as an intern at pharmacies in Anklam and Berga / Elster , then as a pre-examiner in Greiz . Since 1922 he studied pharmacy and chemistry at the University of Göttingen , where he passed his second chemical association examination in 1925 and then worked as an assistant. During his studies he became a member of the "student choir of Georgia Augusta" (today StMV Blaue Sänger Göttingen ). The pharmacist and chemist Awe was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . After the end of the Second World War , Awe went to Goslar , where he worked for a short time as an industrial chemist. In November 1945 he received a senior assistant position under Friedrich von Bruchhausen at the Institute for Pharmacy and Food Chemistry at the Technical University of Braunschweig. He was appointed adjunct professor in 1948. In 1950 he became a full professor and director of the Institute for Applied Pharmacy, which was renamed the Institute for Pharmaceutical Technology in the same year. Awe's research included questions of alkaloid chemistry (berberine alkaloids, ingredients of poppy poppy) and pharmaceutical analysis. He was co-editor of the Archives of Pharmacy and the Textbook of Chemistry for Pharmacists, Food Chemists, Physicians and Biologists . Since 1959 he has chaired the Lower Saxony regional group of the German Pharmaceutical Society .
