A pharmacist assistant , colloquially also pre-examined , is part of the pharmaceutical staff in the pharmacy .

The legal status is regulated by the “Law on the Legal Status of Pre-Examined Pharmacist Candidates” of December 4, 1973. According to this, persons who have passed the preliminary pharmaceutical examination according to the “Examination Regulations for Pharmacists” of May 18, 1904 ( ZBl. P. 150) or according to the “Examination Regulations for pharmacists ”of December 8, 1934 ( RMBl. p. 769) (pre-examined pharmacist candidates), work under the professional title“ Apothekerassistentin ”or“ Apothekerassistent ”(§ 1 Abs. 1 ApoAnwRstG).

The use of the job title and the exercise of pharmaceutical activities in the pharmacy can be prohibited if the pharmacist's assistant is guilty of behavior which results in the unreliability of the occupation or is unsuitable for the exercise of the profession in terms of health (Section 2 Abs. 1 ApoAnwRstG). Unauthorized use of the professional title is illegal (Section 3 (1) ApoAnwRstG).

A distinction must be made between pharmacist assistants and pharmacy assistants who have completed their training in the GDR .

Training course

By 1969 the training of consisted pharmacist from a two-year teaching at least three years in a pharmacy followed, (six semesters ) lasting pharmaceutical studies . The apprenticeship was subject to pension insurance and was completed with the pharmaceutical pre-examination . People who have not completed further training as a pharmacist may use the designation "pharmacist assistant".

Since the practical training of pharmacists after completing their pharmacy studies as a pharmacy intern , no more pharmacist assistants have been trained. When it became foreseeable that the pre-examinations' occupation would expire, the new occupation of " pharmaceutical-technical assistant " was created in 1968 . Pharmacist assistants can only be found sporadically in active professional life.

activity

The pharmacist assistant is authorized to carry out pharmaceutical activities in accordance with the pharmacy operating regulations in the pharmacy under the responsibility of a pharmacist (Section 1 (2) ApoAnwRstG). After reporting to the competent authority, he may represent the pharmacy manager for up to four weeks a year if his knowledge and skills are appropriate and in the previous year he worked full-time in his profession in a public pharmacy or hospital pharmacy for at least six months . Pharmacy managers of a hospital-supplying pharmacy or with several branch pharmacies, as well as pharmacies blistering or producing parenterals in accordance with the new pharmacy operating regulations, may only be represented by one pharmacist.

Current situation

In 2009, 8056 pharmacy assistants and pharmaceutical engineers were employed in public pharmacies in Germany.

The salary of the pharmacy assistant in the pharmacy is regulated by the salary tariff, according to which the remuneration is between 2,638 and 2,791 euros. The collective agreements in the pharmacy sector are concluded between " ADEXA - Die Apothekengewerkschaft" and the ADA (Employers' Association of German Pharmacies) or the collective bargaining association of pharmacy managers (TGL) North Rhine.
