Pharmacy Intern

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A pharmacy intern (also a pharmacist in an internship ) provides the 12-month practical training required by the license to practice pharmacists in Germany , which is also known as the PJ (practical year). The pharmacy internship requires the passed 2nd section of the pharmaceutical examination and thus the completion of the university part of the pharmacy degree .

Of the 12 months, at least six months must be completed in a public pharmacy that is not a branch pharmacy. Another six months can optionally be in

be completed in Germany or abroad.

The pharmacy intern is part of the pharmaceutical staff in the pharmacy and is allowed to carry out pharmaceutical activities (manufacturing, testing and dispensing of drugs ) under the supervision of a pharmacist .

After completing the practical training, the third section of the pharmaceutical examination follows, in which the newly acquired knowledge is checked again. Upon successful completion, the license to practice pharmacist can be applied for from the responsible government agency. The government agency then checks whether the applicant is worthy of the profession of pharmacist.

designation

The designation “pharmacy intern” is not stipulated by law. The licensing regulations for pharmacists only speak of practical training. However, some state examination offices use this term (e.g. in Bavaria).

The Federal Association of Pharmacy Students in Germany (BPhD) is trying to establish a new name in place of the name "Pharmacy intern". Suggestions are “pharmacist in internship”, “pharmacist intern” or “pharmacist”. In the opinion of the BPhD, the designation is misleading and does not do justice to the previous education, as it suggests to people who are not familiar with pharmacist training that it is a student intern and makes it difficult for the customer to see the intern as a consultant.

An application was accepted at the Pharmacists 'Day in 2009 after the Federal Association of German Pharmacists' Associations should advocate using the term “ Pharmacist in Internship ” (PhiP) in the future .
