The Federal Association of Pharmacy Students in Germany e. V. (BPhD) is the nationwide advocacy group for pharmacy students in Germany. All 22 pharmacy faculties in Germany belong to it. It supports the work of the local student councils and represents its members vis-à-vis politics and the public, university organs, professional bodies (chambers and associations) and in international organizations. The seat of the association is Berlin .

history

The association was founded in Bonn in November 1948 as a working group for pharmacy students (Agpha) and in 1950 it was incorporated into the Association of German Student Associations (VDS) as the Pharmacy Division (later Pharmacy Association - FVP) . In 1951, Agpha also became a member of the International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation (IPSF). Initially, the association was mainly involved in the social field, but since the late 1960s it has campaigned for a reform of studies.

When the VDS dissolved its previous professional associations in 1969, the FVP was reconstituted as an independent interest group. After reunification , the East German student councils were accepted into the association, and in 1990 it was renamed the Federal Association of Pharmacy Students in Germany ; since 1996 also with the official abbreviation BPhD.

structure

Members are the pharmacy faculties of the universities in Germany. The student councils represent the interests of their students at the Federal Association Conference (BVT), which takes place once a semester , at which information is exchanged and common positions are developed. In addition, the delegates elect the board and the representatives from among their number.

The board consists of the three chairmen (president, general secretary, treasurer), who also form the executive board , as well as eight representatives for various areas of responsibility (including press work, teaching and studies, health policy and young pharmacists).

activities

The primary goal of the association is the continuous improvement of pharmacy studies including the practical year (PJ) and further and advanced training. For example, the BPhD has contributed to the development of the current licensing regulations for pharmacists (AAppO), which have been in force since the 2001/2002 winter semester. The BPhD participates in the German Pharmacists' Day as a permanent guest and in 2003 achieved a revision of the professional profile. The BPhD presents itself to the public at the Expopharm trade fair , which takes place at the same time as the Pharmacists Day .

In 2014, the BPhD initiated a survey on the model for students parallel to the ABDA discussion on the model of pharmacists in the pharmacy.

In addition, the BPhD regularly organizes campaigns on health topics, such as World AIDS Day (December 1st), World Diabetes Day (November 14th) and sun protection (June 22nd).

As part of the IPSF and EPSA exchange programs, the association also arranges study visits and internships abroad.
